Taiwan carried out its first live-fire exercise of the Altius-600M loitering munition in December, coinciding with news that the U.S. government has approved a major arms package that includes advanced loitering munitions for the island.

The Trump administration notified Congress of eight arms sales packages to Taiwan totaling NT$350.3 billion (US$11.11 billion). On December 17, 2025, the U.S. State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale valued at an estimated NT$34.72 billion ($1.1 billion) to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO) for ALTIUS-700M and ALTIUS-600 systems, as reported by the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).
