The US Army is requesting close to $70 million in its fiscal year 2026 budget to acquire hundreds of all-up rounds and fire-control units for loitering munitions under the Low Altitude Stalking and Strike Ordnance (LASSO) program, according to budget documents released last month.
Originally introduced as a new-start initiative in the previous budget cycle, LASSO has now been integrated into the Army’s broader Launched Effects family of systems and realigned under that line item in the 2026 request.
